Scent Allergies

We have students and staff here at Bishop Feild who have severe allergies, asthma and sensitivities.  We are asking for your continued cooperation with our scent awareness initiatives.

For the safety of students and staff with severe allergies, asthma and sensitivities, please be advised that Bishop Feild Elementary is a scent aware school.  We ask students, parents and visitors to please refrain from wearing scented personal products, heavy detergents and no perfume or cologne (during your interview time and) any time you visit us.

It is especially important that students not wear or bring perfume, aerosol sprays, cologne, aftershave, or other scented products to school. Use only unscented personal care products, such as deodorant. Spray/ aerosol products (sunscreen and hairspray), latex balloons and nail polish are also prohibited.

Food Allergies

We have students and staff here at Bishop Feild who have severe allergies to nuts, and sesame.  We are asking for your continued cooperation with our food safety initiatives.

For the safety of students and staff with severe allergies, asthma and sensitivities, please be advised that Bishop Feild Elementary is a nut/sesame/ free school.  We ask students, parents and visitors to please refrain from bringing these products into our school or packing them in lunches.

Nut and Sesame Allergy

Here are the risk reduction strategies as outlined by our Eastern Health Pediatrics and Allergy Consultant:

- Restrict all nut and nut-containing products where a student has a peanut

allergy.

- Products that state “may contain” are safe for children without the allergy to

consume in school.

All other food allergies

Restrict sharing/trading of foods, food utensils and food containers.

Anaphylaxis management is a shared responsibility that includes educating families and

children with allergies on self-management, ensuring that we have policies and plans in

place to respond to an anaphylactic emergency, and creating anaphylaxis awareness in the

broader school community.
